Good morning everyone welcome to Living Life.
좋은 아침입니다 여러분, Living Life에 오신 것을 환영합니다.

 

Yesterday I shared with you that I recently started the diet.
어제 저는 여러분께 제가 최근에 다이어트를 시작했다고 나눴습니다.

Now the reason I began that diet was just a personal choice It was because of a warning from my doctor

but here's the thing did I really need the doctor to tell me something was wrong with my health not really deep down I already knew I knew

my eating habits wasn't good I knew my lifestyle wasn't healthy and I knew I wasn't exercising the way I should.
제가 그 다이어트를 시작한 이유는 단순히 개인적인 선택 때문이었습니다. 의사의 경고 때문이기도 했습니다.

하지만 중요한 건, 제 건강에 문제가 있다는 걸 꼭 의사가 말해줘야 알 수 있었을까요? 사실 그렇지 않았습니다.

마음 깊은 곳에서는 이미 알고 있었습니다. 제 식습관이 좋지 않다는 것을, 제 생활방식이 건강하지 않다는 것을, 제가 운동을 제대로 하지 않고 있다는 것을 알고 있었죠.

 

But I kept ignoring it. I kept telling myself I am fine.
하지만 저는 그것을 계속 무시했습니다. 스스로에게 괜찮다고 말하며 외면했습니다.

That is until my doctor put that sheet of paper in front of me

a page full of numbers the numbers that told the truth numbers I couldn't deny anymore and just like that God was doing the same thing with Israel.
그러다가 의사가 제 앞에 수치들로 가득 찬 종이를 내밀었을 때, 저는 더 이상 부인할 수 없는 진실을 보게 되었습니다.

마찬가지로 하나님께서도 이스라엘에게 똑같이 하셨습니다.

He was showing them the reality of their spiritual health.
그분은 그들의 영적 건강의 현실을 보여주셨습니다.

He was telling them plainly what would happen if they kept ignoring him.
그분은 그들이 계속해서 하나님을 무시한다면 어떤 일이 일어날지 분명하게 말씀하셨습니다.

And I think God's word today is asking us the same thing.
그리고 저는 오늘 하나님의 말씀이 우리에게도 같은 질문을 하고 있다고 생각합니다.

Will we see the truth of our hearts
우리 마음의 진실을 직시할 것인가,

and will we respond before it's too late?
그리고 너무 늦기 전에 반응할 것인가?

 

 

When the Righteous Perish

 

 

Ezekiel Chapter 21 verses 1 to seventeen
에스겔 21장 1절에서 17절까지

1. The word of the Lord came to me: 여호와의 말씀이 내게 임하였으니: 2. “Son of man, set your face against Jerusalem and preach against the sanctuary. Prophesy against the land of Israel and say to her: “인자여, 네 얼굴을 예루살렘으로 향하게 하고 성소에 대하여 예언하라. 이스라엘 땅에 대하여 예언하며 그에게 말하라: 3. ‘This is what the Lord says: I am against you. I will draw my sword from its sheath and cut off from you both the righteous and the wicked. ‘여호와의 말씀이니라 내가 너를 대적하노라. 내가 칼을 칼집에서 빼어내어 의인과 악인을 네 중에서 끊으리라. 4. Because I am going to cut off the righteous and the wicked, my sword will be unsheathed against everyone from south to north. 내가 의인과 악인을 끊을 것이므로, 남에서 북까지 내 칼이 모든 사람에게 빼들리리라. 5. Then all people will know that I the Lord have drawn my sword from its sheath; it will not return again. 그때 모든 사람이 내가 여호와인 줄 알리라. 내가 칼을 칼집에서 빼내었나니 다시 돌아가지 아니하리라. 6. Therefore groan, son of man! Groan before them with broken heart and bitter grief. 그러므로 인자여, 통곡하며 신음하라! 부서진 마음과 쓰라린 슬픔으로 그들 앞에서 신음하라. 7. And when they ask you, ‘Why are you groaning?’ you shall say, ‘Because of the news that is coming. Every heart will melt with fear and every hand go limp; every spirit will become faint and every leg will be wet with urine.’ It is coming! It will surely take place, declares the Sovereign Lord.” 그들이 네게 ‘왜 신음하느냐?’ 묻거든 말하라. ‘다가오는 소식 때문이다. 모든 마음이 두려움에 녹아 내리고, 모든 손이 축 늘어지며, 모든 정신이 약해지고, 모든 무릎이 물에 젖으리라.’ 오고 있다! 반드시 이루리라, 주 여호와의 선언이니라.” 8. The word of the Lord came to me: 여호와의 말씀이 내게 임하였더라: 9. “Son of man, prophesy and say, ‘This is what the Lord says: “A sword, a sword, sharpened and polished— “인자여, 예언하여 이르라. 여호와의 말씀이니라. ‘칼이여, 칼이여, 벼려지고 닦였도다— 10. sharpened for the slaughter, polished to flash like lightning! 살육을 위하여 날카롭게 벼려지고, 번개같이 빛나도록 닦였도다! 11. ‘Shall we rejoice in the scepter of my royal son? The sword despises every such stick. ‘내 아들의 홀을 기뻐하랴? 그 칼은 그런 홀을 모두 멸시하도다. 12. ‘The sword is appointed to be polished, to be grasped with the hand; it is sharpened and polished, made ready for the hand of the slayer. ‘그 칼은 닦이고 손에 잡히도록 정해졌다. 날카롭게 벼려지고 닦여서 살육자의 손에 들려질 준비가 되었도다. 13. Cry out and wail, son of man, for it is against my people; it is against all the princes of Israel. They are thrown to the sword along with my people. Therefore beat your breast. 인자여, 외치며 통곡하라. 이는 내 백성을 향함이요, 이스라엘의 모든 고관들을 향함이라. 그들이 내 백성과 함께 칼에 던져졌음이니, 그러므로 네 가슴을 치라. 14. ‘Testing will surely come. And what if even the scepter, which the sword despises, does not continue? declares the Sovereign Lord.’ ‘시험은 반드시 임하리라. 홀조차 계속되지 못하면 어찌 되겠느냐?’ 주 여호와의 선언이니라. 15. So then, son of man, prophesy and strike your hands together. Let the sword strike twice, even three times. It is a sword for slaughter—a sword for great slaughter, closing in on them from every side. 그러므로 인자여, 예언하고 손뼉을 치라. 칼이 두 번, 세 번까지 치라. 이는 살육의 칼, 큰 살육의 칼이요, 사방에서 그들에게 다가감이라. 16. So that hearts may melt with fear and the fallen be many, I have stationed the sword for slaughter at all their gates. Look! It is forged to strike like lightning, it is grasped for slaughter. 마음이 두려움에 녹고 쓰러지는 자가 많도록, 내가 살육의 칼을 그들의 모든 성문에 세웠다. 보라! 번개같이 치도록 벼려졌고, 살육을 위해 쥐어졌다. 17. Slash to the right, you sword, then to the left, wherever your blade is turned. I too will strike my hands together, and my wrath will subside. I the Lord have spoken.” 칼아, 오른쪽을 치고 왼쪽을 치라! 네 칼날이 향하는 곳마다 치라. 나도 손뼉을 치리니 나의 분노가 그치리라. 나 여호와가 말하였느니라.”

 

 

Amen.

The people of Israel complained about God's methods.
아멘.그러나 이스라엘 백성은 하나님의 방식에 불평했습니다.

 

They said, “Why does God always speak in riddles? Why doesn’t he speak clearly?”
그들은 말했습니다. “왜 하나님은 항상 수수께끼처럼 말씀하십니까? 왜 분명히 말씀하지 않으십니까?”

We saw that yesterday at the end of the passage, and today’s text can feel the same way.
어제 본문 끝에서도 그것을 보았고, 오늘 말씀도 비슷하게 느껴집니다.

It talks about the sword of judgment, but it doesn’t even say who’s holding the sword.
심판의 칼을 이야기하지만, 그 칼을 누가 들고 있는지조차 말하지 않습니다.

It almost describes the sword as if it’s alive by itself.
마치 그 칼이 스스로 살아 움직이는 것처럼 묘사합니다.

It meant just judgment, and that was enough.
그것은 공의로운 심판을 의미했고, 그것만으로도 충분했습니다.

What mattered most was this: the sword was sharp, sharpened, and the sword was everywhere.
가장 중요한 것은 이것이었습니다. 칼은 날카롭고 갈려 있었으며, 어디에나 있었습니다.

And when God’s judgment began, no one would escape.
하나님의 심판이 시작되면, 아무도 피할 수 없었습니다.

 

But if they didn’t feel it, they couldn’t—or maybe they just refused to.
하지만 그들이 그것을 느끼지 못했다면, 못 느낀 것이 아니라 어쩌면 거부했기 때문이었습니다.

So God told Ezekiel to act it out, to groan, to cry out in public, and look like a man in agony.
그래서 하나님께서는 에스겔에게 그것을 행동으로 보이라고 하셨습니다. 신음하고, 공공연히 외치며, 고통 가운데 있는 사람처럼 보이라고 하셨습니다.

 

And the people came up to him and asked, “Why are you crying? What’s wrong?”
그러자 사람들이 그에게 다가와 묻기를, “왜 울고 있습니까? 무슨 일이 일어난 겁니까?” 하였습니다.

 

Can you imagine that

this was at a time when the northern kingdom Israel had already fallen to Assyria,
상상해 보십시오. 이 일은 북왕국 이스라엘이 이미 앗시리아에 의해 멸망한 뒤의 일이었습니다.

and the southern kingdom Judah was only about five years away from destruction.
그리고 남왕국 유다는 멸망까지 불과 5년 정도밖에 남지 않았습니다.

And let’s be honest, no nation that’s only five years from collapse feels safe or peaceful.
솔직히 말해서, 멸망까지 5년밖에 남지 않은 나라가 안전하거나 평안하다고 느낄 수는 없을 것입니다.

Jerusalem had already been attacked twice,

the city was nearly in ruins, kings had been replaced again and again.
예루살렘은 이미 두 번이나 공격을 받았고, 도시는 거의 폐허가 되었으며, 왕은 여러 차례 바뀌었습니다.

The signs were all around them, but still the people refused to face reality.
징조는 사방에 가득했지만, 여전히 백성들은 현실을 직면하기를 거부했습니다.

They should have known even without prophets shouting at them.
예언자들이 크게 외치지 않아도 그들은 알았어야 했습니다.

They should have known this isn’t normal.
이것이 정상적이지 않다는 것을 알았어야 했습니다.

If we don’t turn back to God, we’re not going to survive.
우리가 하나님께로 돌아가지 않으면 살아남지 못할 것이라는 것을 알았어야 했습니다.

 

But instead of repenting, they clung to false hope.
그러나 회개하기보다 그들은 거짓된 희망에 매달렸습니다.

They said, “God made a promise to David. God will never leave us.”
그들은 말했습니다. “하나님께서 다윗에게 약속하셨으니 하나님은 우리를 떠나지 않으실 것이다.”

 

And all the while, they were walking farther and farther from God.
그러는 동안 그들은 점점 더 하나님에게서 멀어져 갔습니다.

They ignored his truth. They accused his prophet. They even told themselves that God was someone he wasn’t.
그들은 하나님의 진리를 무시했고, 예언자를 비난했으며, 하나님을 하나님 아닌 다른 분으로 스스로 속였습니다.

 

Living like that is like my doctor handing me the paper with my health numbers clear as day, and me saying, “No, I’m fine. Nothing to change here.”
그렇게 사는 것은 의사가 제게 건강 수치가 적힌 종이를 분명히 보여주는데도 제가 “아니에요, 괜찮습니다. 바꿀 건 없어요.”라고 말하는 것과 같습니다.

The wise thing would have been to see the warning signs earlier, to make changes before it got worse.
지혜로운 일은 경고의 징조를 일찍 보고, 상황이 더 악화되기 전에 변화하는 것이었습니다.

But even then, even at that moment, there was still hope.
그러나 그때에도, 바로 그 순간에도 여전히 희망이 있었습니다.

Because if I changed my habits, if I ate better, if I exercised, there was a chance to get healthy again.
왜냐하면 제가 습관을 바꾸고, 더 건강하게 먹고, 운동했다면 다시 건강해질 기회가 있었기 때문입니다.

 

And that’s exactly what God was saying to Israel.
그것이 바로 하나님께서 이스라엘에게 하신 말씀입니다.

The warnings weren’t just a message of doom. They were messages of opportunity.
그 경고는 단순히 멸망의 메시지가 아니었습니다. 기회의 메시지였습니다.

Turn back, repent, come home, and I will restore you.
돌아오라, 회개하라, 집으로 오라. 그러면 내가 너희를 회복시키리라.

God keeps saying, “Then you will know that I am the Lord.”
하나님은 계속 말씀하십니다. “그리하면 너희가 내가 여호와인 줄 알리라.”

 

That is the heart of it. Who is God?
그것이 핵심입니다. 하나님은 누구십니까?

He’s not just a God of judgment, but He is also not a God who ignores sin.

He is a God who loves us too much to let us keep going down a destructive path.
그분은 단지 심판의 하나님만이 아니시며, 죄를 무시하는 하나님도 아니십니다. 그분은 우리가 파멸의 길을 계속 가도록 내버려 두실 만큼 무관심하시지 않습니다. 오히려 너무도 사랑하시는 하나님이십니다.

He is holy. He’s just. And He is full of mercy.
그분은 거룩하시고, 공의로우시며, 자비가 충만하십니다.

And that’s why knowing God is more important than anything else.
그래서 하나님을 아는 것이 무엇보다 중요합니다.

 

Today is Saturday, the end of one week, and it is a good time to pause, to look back, to reflect.
오늘은 토요일, 한 주의 끝입니다. 멈추고, 돌아보고, 묵상하기에 좋은 때입니다.

Have you experienced God’s grace this week?
이번 주에 하나님의 은혜를 경험하셨습니까?

And before that, have you lived in a way that reflects a heart that fears Him?
그리고 그 전에, 하나님을 경외하는 마음을 드러내는 삶을 사셨습니까?

 

Thank you for showing us the truth even when it’s uncomfortable.
불편할지라도 진리를 보여주셔서 감사합니다.
Help us to look at our lives not by our own standards but by yours.
우리의 삶을 우리의 기준이 아닌 주님의 기준으로 바라보게 하소서.
Help us not to push your word aside but to respond with obedience.
주의 말씀을 밀어내지 말고 순종으로 반응하게 하소서.
And as we walk closer to you, fill us with your peace, your grace, and your joy, so that today and every day our lives may honor you.
주님께 더 가까이 걸어갈 때, 주님의 평안과 은혜와 기쁨으로 우리를 채워 주셔서 오늘도, 날마다 우리의 삶이 주님을 영화롭게 하게 하소서.
We pray all this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
