I pray that today's meditation will strengthen you faith and then draw you closer to God's heart and give you courage to walk in his truth.
오늘의 묵상이 당신의 믿음을 강하게 하고, 하나님의 마음에 더 가까이 다가가며, 그의 진리 안에서 걸어갈 용기를 주기를 기도합니다.
Have I ever dealt with a rebellious at teenagers?
내가 반항적인 십대들을 다뤄본 적이 있습니까?
Teenagers to whom we try to be good and love approach with a kindness and ensure all the good will we can yet no matter what we do they still respond with a the rebellious attitude.
우리가 잘해주고 사랑으로 다가가며 온갖 선의로 대하려 하지만, 아무리 그래도 여전히 반항적인 태도로 응답하는 십대들 말입니다.
There is a psychological term for this the reactance.
이에 대한 심리학적 용어가 있는데, 그것은 '반발심(reactance)'입니다.
In effect psychology reactance occurs when the people especially teenagers feel their freedom is threatened and reacted by the doing the opposite of what is required.
실제로 심리적 반발심은 사람들이, 특히 십대들이, 자신의 자유가 위협받는다고 느낄 때 요구된 것과 반대로 행동하며 나타납니다.
The people of Israel did the same thing to God.
이스라엘 백성도 하나님께 그렇게 했습니다.
He gave them his decrees and law life giving command meant to protect them and set them apart from the apart as his holy nation.
하나님은 그들에게 법도와 율법, 생명을 주는 명령을 주셨습니다. 이는 그들을 보호하고, 거룩한 백성으로 구별하시기 위함이었습니다.
He also gave them the SVH as a gift a sign that he is the Lord who makes them holy.
또한 하나님은 그들에게 안식일을 선물로 주셨습니다. 이는 그들을 거룩하게 하시는 분이 하나님이심을 보여주는 표징이었습니다.
But instead of a singing God's law as a blessing Israel treated them like a teenager resisting a parent's rule.
그러나 이스라엘은 하나님의 율법을 축복으로 여기지 않고, 부모의 규칙에 반항하는 십대처럼 대했습니다.
Shall we listen today's passage and find out how they responded to God's mercy and grace?
오늘의 본문을 함께 들어보며, 그들이 하나님의 자비와 은혜에 어떻게 반응했는지 알아보시겠습니까?
Ezekiel chapter 20, verses 10 to 26
| 10. Therefore I led them out of Egypt and brought them into the wilderness. 그러므로 내가 그들을 이집트에서 인도하여 광야로 이끌어가고 11. I gave them my decrees and made known to them my laws, by which the person who obeys them will live. 내가 그들에게 내 규례를 주고 내 법도를 알게 하였나니, 이를 지키는 자는 그것으로 말미암아 살 것임이라 12. Also I gave them my Sabbaths as a sign between us, so they would know that I the Lord made them holy. 또한 안식일을 표징으로 삼아 우리 사이에 있게 하여, 그들이 내가 여호와인 줄 알게 하며, 내가 그들을 거룩하게 한 줄 알게 하였느니라 13. “‘Yet the people of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness. They did not follow my decrees but rejected my laws—by which the person who obeys them will live—and they utterly desecrated my Sabbaths. So I said I would pour out my wrath on them and destroy them in the wilderness. “하지만 이스라엘 백성이 광야에서 내게 반역하며, 내 규례를 따르지 않고 내 법도를 거부하였으며, 사람은 그것을 지키면 살 것이라 한 법도를 멸시하며 안식일을 크게 더럽혔느니라. 그래서 내가 그들에게 진노를 쏟아 그들을 광야에서 멸하려 하였다." 14. But for the sake of my name I did what would keep it from being profaned in the eyes of the nations in whose sight I had brought them out. 그러나 내 이름이 보이기 위하여, 내가 그들을 이끌어 낸 눈앞에 있는 열방 중에서 내 이름이 더럽혀지지 않게 하려 하였느니라 15. Also with uplifted hand I swore to them in the wilderness that I would not bring them into the land I had given them—a land flowing with milk and honey, the most beautiful of all lands— 또 광야에서 그들에게 들린 손을 들어 맹세하여, 내가 주려던 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 땅, 만국 중 가장 아름다운 땅에 그들을 인도지 아니하리라 하였느니라 16. because they rejected my laws and did not follow my decrees and desecrated my Sabbaths. For their hearts were devoted to their idols. 이는 그들이 내 법도를 거부하고 내 규례를 따르지 않으며 안식일을 더럽혔고, 그들의 마음이 우상에게로 향하였음이라 17. Yet I looked on them with pity and did not destroy them or put an end to them in the wilderness. 그러나 내가 그들을 불쌍히 여겨 광야에서 멸하거나 끝내지 아니하였느니라 18. I said to their children in the wilderness, “Do not follow the statutes of your parents or keep their laws or defile yourselves with their idols. 내가 그들의 자녀에게 광야에서 말하였느니라. “너희 부모의 규례를 따르지 말며, 그들의 법도를 지키지 말고, 그들의 우상으로 너희 자신을 더럽히지 말라." 19. I am the Lord your God; follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. 나는 너희의 주 여호와니라. 내 규례를 따르고, 내 법도를 삼가 지키라 20. Keep my Sabbaths holy, that they may be a sign between us. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God. 내 안식일을 거룩히 지키라. 그것이 우리 사이에 표징이 되리니, 그리하면 너희가 내가 여호와 너희 하나님인 줄 알리라 21. “‘But the children rebelled against me: They did not follow my decrees, they were not careful to keep my laws, of which I said, “The person who obeys them will live by them,” and they desecrated my Sabbaths. So I said I would pour out my wrath on them and spend my anger against them in the wilderness. “그러나 그 자녀들도 내게 반역하여, 내 규례를 따르지 않고, ‘이를 지키는 자는 그것으로 살 것이라’ 한 내 법도를 주의해 지키지 않았으며, 안식일을 더럽혔느니라. 그래서 내가 그들에게 진노를 쏟고 광야에서 그들에게 내 분노를 다하리라 하였느니라." 22. But I withheld my hand, and for the sake of my name I did what would keep it from being profaned in the eyes of the nations in whose sight I had brought them out. 그러나 내가 손을 거두고, 내 이름이 보이기 위하여, 내 이름이 내가 그들을 인도해 낸 민족 앞에서 욕을 당하지 않게 하였느니라 23. Also with uplifted hand I swore to them in the wilderness that I would disperse them among the nations and scatter them through the countries, 또 광야에서 그들에게 손을 들어 맹세하여, 내가 그들을 민족 중에 흩으며 나라들에 흩뜨리리라 하였느니라 24. because they had not obeyed my laws but had rejected my decrees and desecrated my Sabbaths, and their eyes lusted after their parents’ idols. 이는 그들이 내 법도를 지키지 않고 내 규례를 거부하며 안식일을 더럽혔고, 그들의 눈은 조상들의 우상을 사모하였기 때문이니라 25. So I gave them other statutes that were not good and laws through which they could not live; 그래서 내가 그들에게 생명에 이르지 못하는, 선하지 않은 다른 규례들과 법도를 주었느니라 26. I defiled them through their gifts—the sacrifice of every firstborn—that I might fill them with horror so they would know that I am the Lord. 그들이 드리는 예물, 곧 모든 장자를 불에 통과하게 하는 제사로 말미암아 그들을 더럽혀, 그들이 떨게 하여 내가 여호와인 줄 알게 하였느니라 |
Ezekiel Chapter 20, verse 10 through 26 God reminds Israel of their history.
에스겔 20장 10절부터 26절에서 하나님은 이스라엘의 역사를 상기시키십니다.
After the Exodus
he recounted their repeated act of a rebellion in the wilderness,
their defilement in the land and even the corruptions of their worship.
출애굽 이후, 하나님은 광야에서의 반복된 반역, 땅에서의 부정, 그리고 예배의 타락까지 언급하십니다.
Through it all God's justice and mercy are displayed side by side.
그 모든 과정 속에서 하나님의 정의와 자비가 함께 드러납니다.
God led Israel out of Egypt into the wilderness to give them his decrees and laws in life.
하나님은 이스라엘을 이집트에서 이끌어내어 광야에서 그들에게 생명의 규례와 법을 주셨습니다.
Giving instructions are meant to bless and protect them.
그 명령들은 그들을 축복하고 보호하기 위함이었습니다.
He gave them the seventh as a sign of a covenant, a reminder that he is the Lord who sanctified them.
하나님은 안식일을 언약의 표징으로 주시며, 그들을 거룩하게 하신 분이 자신임을 상기시키셨습니다.
The Israelites have been in Egypt for about 430 years as slaves.
이스라엘은 약 430년 동안 이집트에서 노예 생활을 했습니다.
They endured the exhausting manual labor, harsh treatments, restricted freedom and cultural suppression.
그들은 고된 육체노동, 가혹한 대우, 제한된 자유, 그리고 문화적 억압을 견뎌야 했습니다.
They lived in the crowded mud brick dwellings, ate very poor food, and saw their children born into generations of bondage.
그들은 비좁은 진흙 벽돌집에서 살았고, 열악한 음식을 먹으며, 자녀들이 대대로 노예로 태어나는 것을 보았습니다.
They had no freedom, no rest, no hope until God delivered them with his mighty hand.
하나님의 강한 손이 그들을 구원하시기 전까지는 자유도, 쉼도, 소망도 없었습니다.
Their lives were marked by oppression and hopelessness, making God's deliverance through the Exodus all the more remarkable.
그들의 삶은 압제와 절망으로 점철되었으나, 바로 그 때문에 출애굽을 통한 하나님의 구원이 더욱 놀라운 것이 되었습니다.
Then God called the Israelites to Mount Sinai through Moses.
그 후 하나님은 모세를 통해 이스라엘을 시내산으로 부르셨습니다.
He gave them his law not to take away their freedom but to guide his people into a full and flourishing life.
그분은 그들의 자유를 빼앗으려는 것이 아니라, 온전하고 풍성한 삶으로 인도하기 위해 율법을 주셨습니다.
His commands show the way to live in harmony with him and with others.
그분의 명령은 하나님과 이웃과 조화롭게 사는 길을 보여줍니다.
They marked Israel as different from the surrounding nations, reflecting God's holy character.
그 율법은 이스라엘을 주변 민족들과 구별되게 하며, 하나님의 거룩한 성품을 드러내게 했습니다.
And then God gave them his decrees and law, you know, to give them a life and protect them from those wrong cultures.
그리고 하나님은 그들에게 생명을 주시고 잘못된 문화로부터 보호하시기 위해 규례와 율법을 주셨습니다.
And God gave them a Sabbath as a gift, a sign that he is the Lord who makes them holy and gives them rest.
하나님은 또한 안식일을 선물로 주시며, 그들을 거룩하게 하시고 쉼을 주시는 분이 자신임을 보여주는 표징으로 삼으셨습니다.
Yet instead of seeing God’s law as a blessing, Israel reacted like a rebellious teenager resisting a parent’s rules.
그러나 이스라엘은 하나님의 율법을 축복으로 여기지 않고, 부모의 규칙에 반항하는 십대처럼 반응했습니다.
They pushed back, sometimes by doing the exact opposite of what was commanded, like a defiant child.
그들은 때로는 명령받은 것과 정반대로 행동하며, 반항하는 아이처럼 거역했습니다.
They rejected God’s commands and profaned his Sabbath, and clung to idols.
그들은 하나님의 명령을 거부하고 안식일을 더럽혔으며, 우상에 매달렸습니다.
Even the next generation repeated the same pattern, and despite seeing the consequences of their parents’ rebellion, they chose the same path.
심지어 다음 세대도 같은 패턴을 반복했고, 부모 세대의 반역의 결과를 보았음에도 불구하고 동일한 길을 선택했습니다.
Like stubborn adolescents convinced they knew better, they ignored the wisdom and love behind God’s instruction.
자신들이 더 잘 안다고 믿는 고집 센 청소년처럼, 그들은 하나님의 가르침에 담긴 지혜와 사랑을 무시했습니다.
God had every right to bring judgment, yet he withheld his wrath for the sake of his name.
하나님은 심판을 내리실 충분한 권리를 가지셨지만, 자신의 이름을 위해 진노를 거두셨습니다.
His restraint was not weakness; it was a covenant of faithfulness.
Even when his people defiled themselves in the land, engaging in pagan worship and practices, even child sacrifice, God’s desire was to call them back to himself.
그분의 자제는 약함이 아니라 언약에 대한 신실함이었습니다.
백성이 땅에서 자신들을 더럽히며 이방 예배와 행위, 심지어 자녀 제사까지 행했을 때에도 하나님은 그들을 다시 자신에게로 부르기를 원하셨습니다.
The truth is, all of us have that inner teenager who resists God’s boundaries, thinking they limit our freedom.
But God’s commands are not chains to hold us down.
사실 우리 모두 안에 하나님의 경계를 자유를 제한한다고 거부하는 십대 같은 마음이 있습니다.
그러나 하나님의 명령은 우리를 억누르는 쇠사슬이 아닙니다.
They are guardlines to keep us alive and lead us into his blessing.
그것들은 우리를 살리고 하나님의 축복으로 인도하는 보호선입니다.
When his children persist in disobedience, God may not destroy them because of his faithfulness,
but he may allow painful consequences to happen in their lives.
하나님의 자녀가 계속 불순종할 때, 하나님은 신실하심 때문에 그들을 멸하지는 않으시지만,
삶 속에 고통스러운 결과가 일어나도록 허락하실 수 있습니다.
When we experience the rod of God’s discipline, let us remember that he disciplines us to turn us back into his safe arms.
우리가 하나님의 징계를 경험할 때, 그것이 우리를 다시 하나님의 안전한 품으로 돌이키게 하려는 것임을 기억해야 합니다.
God did not rescue us from slavery so we could live on our own terms, but he set us free so we could live for him.
하나님은 우리가 마음대로 살라고 종살이에서 구해내신 것이 아니라, 하나님을 위해 살도록 자유케 하셨습니다.
Let’s bow down: Father, we saw that the Israelites, even though they were chosen by you and called as a holy nation,
기도합시다: 아버지, 이스라엘이 주께 택함 받고 거룩한 나라로 불렸음에도 불구하고
and on the top of that you gave them the law and you gave them the Sabbath.
율법과 안식일까지 주셨건만
But Father, they turned away from your grace and tried to live according to their own will.
그들은 아버지의 은혜에서 돌아서서 자기 뜻대로 살고자 했습니다.
Father, we want to think about all the rules and regulations which you gae us, Lord. They are not obligations.
아버지, 주께서 주신 모든 규례와 율법을 다시 생각합니다. 그것들은 의무가 아닙니다.
But as your children, what we want to do is to live according to your will.
우리는 아버지의 자녀로서, 주님의 뜻대로 살기를 원합니다.
So Father, fix our hearts and let us be the ones who follow your heart.
그러니 아버지, 우리의 마음을 고쳐 주시고 주님의 마음을 따르는 자들이 되게 하소서.
