Welcome to living life.

My father is actually a general contractor which means he could fix everything and anything.
인생에 오신 것을 환영합니다. 제 아버지는 사실 종합 건축업자이시고, 그래서 무엇이든지 고칠 수 있는 분입니다.

I've never met a man that could literally fix anything right?
저는 정말로 무엇이든 고칠 수 있는 사람을 만나본 적이 없습니다, 그렇죠?

The problem is because he's so good at it I never had to learn or I guess I refuse to learn a one day there was a plumbing issue in my house and my wife asked me to call my father to come and you know fix it

but my pride said In that moment you know what
문제는 그분이 너무 잘하셔서 제가 배울 필요가 없었고, 아니면 배우기를 거부했던 것 같습니다. 어느 날 집에 배관 문제가 생겼고 아내가 아버지께 전화를 해서 고쳐 달라고 했지만, 그 순간 제 자존심이 이렇게 말했습니다. "있잖아..."

I could do it how hard could it be You know have I ever fixed anything before?
내가 할 수 있지, 그게 얼마나 어렵겠어? 그런데 내가 전에 무언가를 고쳐본 적이 있었나?

No of course not right but I said you know what I'm gonna do I'm gonna take care of it.
아니, 물론 아니죠. 하지만 저는 이렇게 말했습니다. "있잖아, 내가 처리할 거야."

How wonderful if this story ended with a you know a personal triumph right?
이 이야기가 개인적인 승리로 끝난다면 얼마나 멋질까요, 그렇죠?

Yes I was able to do it Ah but instead the story ends with You know water water everywhere

Have you ever tried to fix something on your own without asking for help only to make it worse?
네, 제가 해낼 수 있었다면 좋았겠지만, 대신 이야기는 집안 곳곳에 물이 가득한 상태로 끝났습니다.

도움을 요청하지 않고 혼자 무언가를 고치려다가 오히려 더 망쳐본 적이 있나요?

Well that's what happens in today's passage
그게 바로 오늘의 본문에서 일어나는 일입니다.

 

when we trust in our own human strength instead of God not only do we fail but what do we do?
우리가 하나님 대신 자신의 힘을 신뢰할 때, 우리는 실패할 뿐 아니라 무엇을 하게 될까요?

We cut ourselves off from the very source of life I pray that this passage right in light of this passage that everyone here instead of trusting in our own let's be able to trust in God.
우리는 생명의 근원으로부터 스스로를 끊어 버립니다. 저는 오늘의 본문을 통해, 여기 있는 모든 분이 자신의 힘을 믿는 대신 하나님을 신뢰할 수 있기를 기도합니다.

So with that trusting heart let's listen to his word together.
그러니 그 신뢰하는 마음으로 하나님의 말씀을 함께 들어봅시다.

 

 

A Parable of Disloyalty

 

 

Ezekiel  Chapter Seventeen Verses 1 to 10

1 The word of the Lord came to me: 여호와의 말씀이 내게 임하여 이르시되: 2 “Son of man, set forth an allegory and tell it to the Israelites as a parable. “인자야, 비유를 펴서 이스라엘 자손에게 비유로 말하라. 3 Say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: A great eagle with powerful wings, long feathers and full plumage of varied colors came to Lebanon. 그들에게 이르기를 이렇게 주 여호와의 말씀이니라. ‘날개가 크고 깃털이 길며 색깔이 여러 가지인 큰 독수리 한 마리가 레바논에 왔노라. 4 Taking hold of the top of a cedar, he broke off its topmost shoot and carried it away to a land of merchants, where he planted it in a city of traders. 그가 레바논 삼나무의 꼭대기를 붙잡고 그 꼭대기 새순을 꺾어 상업하는 땅, 곧 상인들이 있는 성읍으로 옮겨 심었노라. 5 He took one of the seedlings of the land and put it in fertile soil. He planted it like a willow by abundant water, 또 그 땅의 새순 하나를 취하여 비옥한 토양에 심고, 풍성한 물가에 버드나무 같이 심었으며 6 and it sprouted and became a low, spreading vine. Its branches turned toward him, but its roots remained under it. So it became a vine and produced branches and put out leafy boughs. 싹이 나서 낮고 넓게 드러나는 포도나무가 되었으며, 그 가지는 그를 향했으나 뿌리는 그대로 남아 있었기에 포도나무가 되어 가지를 치고 잎이 무성한 가지를 내었느니라. 7 But there was another great eagle with powerful wings and full plumage. The vine now sent out its roots toward him from the plot where it was planted and stretched out its branches to him for water. 그런데 또 다른 큰 독수리 하나가 있어 날개가 크고 깃털이 무성하였으며, 포도나무는 그것이 심긴 밭에서 뿌리를 그에게 향하게 하고, 가지를 뻗어 물을 얻고자 그를 향해 뻗었느니라. 8 It had been planted in good soil by abundant water so that it would produce branches, bear fruit and become a splendid vine.’ 이것은 풍성한 물가의 좋은 토양에 심긴 바, 가지를 치고 열매를 맺어 고귀한 포도나무가 되게 하려 함이었느니라.’  9 Say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Will it thrive? Will it not be uprooted and stripped of its fruit so that it withers? All its new growth will wither. It will not take a strong arm or many people to pull it up by the roots. 그들에게 고하라. ‘이것이 주 여호와의 말씀이니라. 이 포도나무가 번성하겠느냐? 뿌리째 뽑히고 열매 없이 마르지 않겠느냐? 모든 새싹이 시들 것이라. 뿌리째 뽑아낼 때 힘센 자나 많은 사람이 필요하지도 않겠다. 10 It has been planted, but will it thrive? Will it not wither completely when the east wind strikes it—wither away in the plot where it grew?’” 이미 심겼지만, 번성하겠느냐? 동풍이 불면 완전히 시들지 않겠느냐—자란 그 밭에서 시들어 버리지 않겠느냐?’ ”

 

 

 

the first couple of verses that we read here It's a riddle's a parable that's what we see.
우리가 방금 읽은 첫 몇 절은 수수께끼이며 비유라는 것을 볼 수 있습니다.

And we're told that the first eagle represents Babylon The divine represents the nation of Judah which is planted and cared for under Babylon's control but instead of growing upright divine it bends its roots toward a second eagle which is Egypt longing for a different protector.
그리고 첫 번째 독수리는 바벨론을, 포도나무는 바벨론의 지배 아래 심겨지고 보살핌을 받는 유다를 나타낸다고 합니다. 그러나 곧게 자라기보다 뿌리를 두 번째 독수리, 곧 다른 보호자를 갈망하는 이집트를 향해 뻗었습니다.

The problem is God on many occasions told the Israelites to stay the course that even though Babylon was coming God said you know what this is part of my will for you.
문제는 하나님께서 여러 번 이스라엘 백성에게 바른 길을 가라고 말씀하셨다는 것입니다. 비록 바벨론이 오고 있었지만, 하나님은 이것이 그들을 향한 자신의 뜻의 일부라고 말씀하셨습니다.

We were actually told in other books in Jeremia over and over and over again that God says hey right you have to relax and even the people who are exiled God says you must succumb to Babylon and yet the people refused they heard this from the different prophets of God and yet they still refuse.
사실 예레미야서를 비롯한 다른 책에서 하나님은 여러 번 "안심하라"라고 말씀하시고, 심지어 포로로 잡혀간 자들에게도 바벨론에 굴복하라고 하셨습니다. 그러나 그들은 이를 거부했습니다. 하나님의 여러 선지자들에게서 이 말씀을 들었음에도 여전히 거부했습니다.

They were living in idolatry their sin was too great but they doubled down by going against God's will and instead they reached elsewhere.
그들은 우상숭배 가운데 살았고 죄가 너무 컸습니다. 그런데 하나님의 뜻을 거스르며 오히려 다른 곳을 의지하는 죄를 더했습니다.

God said hey do this and they said um no I know better than that.
하나님께서 “이렇게 하라”고 하셨지만 그들은 “아니요, 그보다 더 나은 방법을 압니다”라고 했습니다.

God you know you might have this plan for me but you know what I think this is better I think this is easier I think this is more comfortable and they reached out elsewhere but what is the result?
“하나님, 주님께서 저를 위한 계획을 가지고 계신 건 알지만, 저는 이것이 더 낫고, 더 쉽고, 더 편하다고 생각합니다”라고 말하며 그들은 다른 곳을 의지했습니다. 그러나 그 결과는 무엇이었습니까?

The result is horrible
그 결과는 끔찍합니다.

 

You know we see in verses nine and 10 This is what it says It says to them This is what the sovereign Lord says Will it thrive?
9절과 10절에서 우리는 이렇게 기록된 것을 봅니다. “그들에게 이르기를 주 여호와께서 말씀하시니라, 이것이 번성하겠느냐?”

Will it not be uprooted and stripped of its fruit so that it withers all its new growth will wither It will not take a strong arm or many people to pull it up by the roots It has been planted But will it thrive?
“뿌리째 뽑히고 열매가 떨어져 시들지 않겠느냐? 모든 새싹이 시들어 버릴 것이다. 그 뿌리를 뽑는 데 힘센 팔이나 많은 사람이 필요하지 않다. 이미 심겼지만 번성하겠느냐?”

Will it not wither completely when the east wind strikes it wither away in the plot where it grew
“동풍이 불면 완전히 시들어, 자라난 그 밭에서 시들어 버리지 않겠느냐?”

You know

trusting anything other than God might even seem wise and right in that moment but guess what it always leads to disaster always leads to spiritual dryness It always leads to disappointment.
하나님 이외의 다른 것을 신뢰하는 것이 그 순간에는 지혜롭고 옳아 보일 수도 있지만, 결국 그것은 언제나 재앙으로, 영적인 메마름으로, 실망으로 이어집니다.

 

So today I want to ask you

in times of need especially in times of desperation You know where do you turn to?
그래서 오늘 여러분께 묻고 싶습니다.

필요할 때, 특히 절망의 순간에 여러분은 어디로 향합니까?

Who do you turn to when you're faced with a problem even a small problem during the regular Monday In parts of your lives Who do you turn to?
일상 속에서, 심지어 월요일 같은 평범한 날에 작은 문제를 마주했을 때, 여러분은 누구를 찾습니까?

You know some of us we turn to ourselves we trust in our own talents We trust in our own intellect Right?
우리 중 일부는 스스로를 의지하고, 자신의 재능을 믿으며, 자신의 지성을 신뢰합니다. 그렇죠?

Or perhaps we turn to the world We turn to friends we turn to money and those in power But today he says no none of that
혹은 세상을 의지하거나, 친구를 의지하거나, 돈이나 권력을 의지하기도 합니다. 그러나 오늘 하나님은 말씀하십니다. “아니, 그것이 아니다.”

You know instead of turning to those things we must turn to God instead of trying to formulate strategies to fix the problem No we must turn to God Where am I planted?
그런 것들을 의지하는 대신 우리는 하나님께 돌아와야 합니다. 문제를 해결하기 위한 전략을 세우는 대신, 하나님께 돌아와야 합니다. “나는 어디에 심겨져 있는가?”

Am I planted in the world?
나는 세상에 심겨져 있는가?

Am I planted in myself or am I planted in the presence and the word of God?
나는 내 자신에 심겨져 있는가, 아니면 하나님의 임재와 말씀에 심겨져 있는가?

Where is it that I am planted?
나는 어디에 심겨져 있는가?

I pray that today that no matter where you find yourselves let's plant ourselves in the presence of God Let's plant ourselves in his word and instead of turning elsewhere let's only turn to God for all the answers You know the passage Today it ends with that you know terrifying question what will happen right
오늘, 여러분이 어디에 있든지 하나님의 임재 속에, 그분의 말씀 속에 우리 자신을 심기를 기도합니다. 다른 곳으로 향하는 대신, 모든 해답을 위해 하나님만 바라봅시다. 오늘 본문은 “무슨 일이 일어날까?”라는 두려운 질문으로 끝납니다.

but once again right even though it's terrifying there's always hope with God there's always hope God might uproot right but not to destroy but to replant there's always hop instead of reaching out and planting whatever we might want to do instead of trying to grow on our own and you rely on our own strength today we are humble ourselves.
하지만 다시 말하지만, 비록 그것이 두려워 보여도 하나님 안에는 언제나 소망이 있습니다. 하나님은 뿌리를 뽑으실 수도 있지만, 그것은 파괴하려 함이 아니라 다시 심기 위함입니다. 우리가 원하는 대로 뿌리내리려 하거나, 스스로 자라며 자기 힘을 의지하는 대신, 오늘 우리는 겸손히 자신을 낮춥니다.

Once again it doesn't even have to be a big problem or a big situation in all situations let us humbble ourselves and allow God to plant us right in that perfect place even though we might not see it That's where we're gonna thrive and that's where we're gonna flourish.
다시 말해, 큰 문제나 큰 상황이 아니어도 모든 상황 속에서 겸손히 하나님께서 우리를 완전한 곳에 심으시도록 하게 합시다. 우리가 그곳을 보지 못하더라도, 그곳에서 우리는 번성하고 꽃피울 것입니다.

I pray that every single one of us in humility in repentance in faith allow God to work through us
저는 우리 모두가 겸손과 회개와 믿음으로 하나님께서 우리를 통해 일하시도록 하기를 기도합니다.

today I want to challenge everyone whenever you feel tempted to take control or lean on your own understanding I want you to just take a moment to stop and pray right and just return back to God.
오늘 저는 여러분 모두에게 도전합니다. 통제권을 잡고 싶거나 자신의 이해에 의지하고 싶은 유혹이 들 때마다 잠시 멈추고 기도하며, 하나님께 돌아가십시오.

God what am I doing right?
“하나님, 제가 지금 무엇을 하고 있는 건가요?”

Am I leaning towards the world?
“제가 세상을 의지하고 있나요?”

Am I leaning towards my own understanding or am I turning to you?
“제가 내 생각을 의지하고 있나요, 아니면 주님께 향하고 있나요?”

 

You know I asked a couple of my leaders this question

Think about you know like the top three things in your life right now that influence you whether it's work friends you know your motivations whatever it could be right

I'm not saying any of those things are bad right

but what would it look like instead of those top three things that you place God all the way on the top or you integrate God in the midst of all of that

How would those things change?
제가 몇몇 리더들에게 이런 질문을 했습니다.

지금 여러분의 삶에서 영향을 주는 세 가지를 생각해 보세요. 그것이 일, 친구, 동기부여, 무엇이든 될 수 있습니다. 저는 그 어떤 것도 나쁘다고 말하는 것이 아닙니다. 하지만 그 세 가지의 맨 위에 하나님을 두거나, 그 모든 한가운데 하나님을 통합한다면 어떻게 달라질까요?

You know would you rely on family more?
여러분은 가족을 더 의지하게 될까요?

Would you turn to work more?
일에 더 의지하게 될까요?

Would you you know be driven by success more?
성공에 더 이끌리게 될까요?

 

I don't know right

but I pray that today that you are able to allow God to enter into your life right?
저는 잘 모르지만, 오늘 여러분이 하나님께서 여러분의 삶에 들어오시도록 허락하길 기도합니다.

Have him as the number one have him as a standard

and out of all of that to be able to live the rest of your lives

I pray that every single one of us with a humble heart will be able to accept this passage.
하나님을 1순위로 두고, 기준으로 삼아, 그 모든 것 가운데 남은 삶을 살아가길 바랍니다. 우리 모두가 겸손한 마음으로 이 말씀을 받아들이기를 기도합니다.

 

 

Let's all pray
Gracious Father we thank you once again for giving us this amazing passage and even though it is difficult to read Lord we pray Lord that we may apply to our lives and we are able to just humbly accept it as your word.
다 함께 기도하겠습니다.
은혜로우신 아버지, 이 놀라운 말씀을 주셔서 다시 한 번 감사드립니다. 비록 읽기 어렵더라도, 주님의 말씀으로서 우리의 삶에 적용하고 겸손히 받아들이기를 원합니다.
Instead of planting ourselves in our own selves or
우리 자신 안에 스스로를 심는 대신,
planting ourselves where we want to or in this world
we pray Lord that we will give up absolute control and allow you to just plant us anywhere.
원하는 곳이나 세상에 심는 대신, 주님께서 어디든 심으시도록 절대적인 주권을 내려놓기를 기도합니다.
Lord trusting in your goodness trusting in your faithfulness trusting in your providence Our Lord we thank you and we love you.
주님의 선하심과 신실하심, 섭리를 믿으며, 주님 감사합니다. 주님을 사랑합니다.
We pray all this in Jesus' name amen.
