Have you been to buffet before?
여러분은 뷔페에 가본 적이 있나요?

When I was young, when I was younger, I used to enjoy going to buffet.
제가 어렸을 때, 더 젊었을 때는 뷔페에 가는 것을 즐겼습니다.

Because when I go to buffet, I can just enjoy and eat as much as I can and I can just enjoy the food.
왜냐하면 뷔페에 가면 마음껏 먹고 음식을 즐길 수 있었기 때문입니다.

 

But as I get older, I don't like going buffet anymore

because I know when I go there, I don't get to eat much because I can't take it anymore.
하지만 나이가 들면서 이제는 뷔페에 가는 것을 좋아하지 않게 되었는데,

왜냐하면 가도 많이 먹지 못하고 더 이상 소화가 잘 안 되기 때문입니다.

I'm getting old and it's hard for me to digest.
나이를 먹다 보니 소화하기가 힘들어졌습니다.

And even though I eat it, I try to eat as much as I can.
그리고 먹더라도 가능한 많이 먹으려고 노력합니다.

I know I can't.
하지만 제가 할 수 없다는 것을 압니다.

It seems like more a waste of money for me.
그래서 저에게는 돈 낭비처럼 느껴집니다.

And, you know, tomorrow, next morning I wake up, I feel so bloated and I get even more hungrier.
그리고 다음 날 아침에 일어나면 배가 더부룩하고 오히려 더 배가 고파집니다.

So this buffet experience often reminds me of how fleshly desires can be so unfulfilling.
그래서 이런 뷔페 경험은 종종 육체적인 욕망이 얼마나 만족스럽지 못한지를 떠올리게 합니다.

 

 

We know our true satisfaction is from God.
우리는 진정한 만족이 하나님께로부터 온다는 것을 알고 있습니다.

And today's text in Ezekiel 16 tells us what it is.
그리고 오늘 에스겔 16장의 말씀은 그것이 무엇인지 우리에게 알려줍니다.

And the dire consequence of carnal flesh and desire of it can be so sad at the ending.
육적인 본성과 그 욕망의 끔찍한 결과는 결말에서 매우 슬플 수 있습니다.

Let's go into the text and read about it.

Adulterous Souls

 

 

Ezekiel chapter 16, verses 15 to 34.
에스겔 16장 15절부터 34절 말씀입니다.

15. “But you trusted in your beauty and used your fame to become a prostitute. You lavished your favors on anyone who passed by and your beauty became his.” 그러나 너는 네 아름다움을 의지하고 명성을 이용하여 창녀가 되었다. 지나가는 모든 자에게 은혜를 베풀었고 네 아름다움은 그들의 것이 되었다. 16. “You took some of your garments to make gaudy high places, where you carried on your prostitution. You went to him, and he possessed your beauty.” 너는 네 옷 일부를 가져다가 화려한 산당을 만들고, 거기서 음행을 행하였다. 너는 그에게 갔고 그는 네 아름다움을 차지하였다. 17. “You also took the fine jewelry I gave you, the jewelry made of my gold and silver, and you made for yourself male idols and engaged in prostitution with them.” 내가 준 곱고 귀한 금은 장신구를 취해, 그것으로 남자 우상을 만들고 그들과 음행하였다. 18. “And you took your embroidered clothes to put on them, and you offered my oil and incense before them.” 네 자수된 옷을 취해 그것들에게 입히고, 내 기름과 향을 그것들 앞에 드렸다. 19. “Also the food I provided for you—the flour, olive oil and honey I gave you to eat—you offered as fragrant incense before them. That is what happened, declares the Sovereign Lord.” 내가 먹으라 주신 밀가루와 올리브유, 꿀로 된 음식을 그것들 앞에 향기로운 향으로 드렸다. 그것이 일어난 일이다, 주 여호와의 말씀이니라. 20. “And you took your sons and daughters whom you bore to me and sacrificed them as food to the idols. Was your prostitution not enough?” 네가 내게 낳은 아들딸을 취하여 우상에게 음식으로 바쳤다. 네 음행이 부족하더냐? 21. “You slaughtered my children and sacrificed them to the idols.” 너는 내 자녀들을 죽여 우상들에게 제물로 바쳤다. 22. “In all your detestable practices and your prostitution you did not remember the days of your youth, when you were naked and bare, kicking about in your blood.” 모든 가증한 행위와 음행 가운데서도 네가 젊었을 때, 벌거벗고 피 속에서 발버둥치던 시절을 기억하지 않았다. 24. “In addition to all your other wickedness, you built a mound for yourself and made a lofty shrine in every public square.” 네 모든 악행 외에도, 너는 스스로 언덕을 쌓고 모든 광장마다 높은 산당을 세웠다. 25. “At every street corner you built your lofty shrines and degraded your beauty, spreading your legs with increasing promiscuity to anyone who passed by.” 모든 길 모퉁이에 높은 산당을 세우고, 아름다움을 더럽히며 방탕하게 다리를 벌리고 지나가는 모든 자와 음행하였다. 26. “You engaged in prostitution with the Egyptians, your neighbors with large genitals, and aroused my anger with your increasing promiscuity.” 너는 생식기가 큰 이웃 이집트인들과 음행하였고, 점점 더 심해지는 방탕함으로 내 분노를 일으켰다. 27. “So I stretched out my hand against you and reduced your territory; I gave you over to the greed of your enemies, the daughters of the Philistines, who were shocked by your lewd conduct.” 내가 네 위에 내 손을 펴서 네 영토를 줄였고, 네 음탕한 행실에 놀란 블레셋 여인들, 곧 네 원수들의 탐욕에 너를 넘겼다. 32. “You adulterous wife! You prefer strangers to your own husband!” 간음한 아내여! 너는 네 남편보다 이방인을 더 좋아한다! 33. “All prostitutes receive gifts, but you give gifts to all your lovers, bribing them to come to you from everywhere for your illicit favors.” 모든 창녀는 선물을 받지만, 너는 모든 연인들에게 선물을 주며 이방인들이 사방에서 와서 은밀한 호의를 베풀게 매수한다. 34. “So in your prostitution you are the opposite of others; no one runs after you for your favors. You are the very opposite, for you give payment and none is given to you.” 그래서 네 음행은 다른 자들과 정반대이다. 아무도 네 은혜를 얻으려 너를 쫓아오지 않는다. 오히려 네가 값을 주고, 아무도 네게 값을 주지 않는다.

 

 

 

Once Jerusalem was beautiful, it says.
예루살렘이 한때는 아름다웠다고 성경은 말한다.

Jerusalem, you are a beautiful lady, said God.
하나님께서 말씀하시길, “예루살렘아, 너는 아름다운 여인이다.”

 

 

But Jerusalem, with its beauty, it ends up in a very bad place.
그러나 예루살렘은 그 아름다움으로 인해 매우 나쁜 곳에 이르게 되었다.

God even calls Jerusalem today a prostitute, an adulterous woman.
하나님은 심지어 오늘날 예루살렘을 창녀, 간음한 여인이라고 부르신다.

 

 

Well, see, we see in this text that God is rebuking, sharply rebuking Jerusalem for having a daughter's relationship with different man and different woman.
자, 이 본문에서 우리는 하나님께서 예루살렘이 여러 남자와 여자, 곧 다양한 사람들과 부적절한 관계를 맺은 것에 대해 심하게 꾸짖으시는 것을 봅니다.

Because of Jerusalem has fallen into idol worship that God considers idol worship as a spiritual adultery.
예루살렘이 우상 숭배에 빠졌기 때문인데, 하나님은 우상 숭배를 영적인 간음으로 여기십니다.

And later on, Jerusalem is rebuked by having adulterous relationship between different nations such as Egypt, Assyria, and Babylon.
그리고 나중에 예루살렘은 이집트, 아시리아, 바빌로니아와 같은 여러 나라와 간음하는 관계를 맺은 것으로 책망을 받습니다.

Well, we know as Israel has turned its way to idol worship, God uses different nations such as those to teach the lesson to Jerusalem.
우리가 알다시피, 이스라엘이 우상 숭배로 돌아서자 하나님은 그러한 나라들을 사용하여 예루살렘에 교훈을 주셨습니다.

And sometimes attacking it, sometimes military or political oppression they receive from them, hoping that Israel will turn back to God.
때로는 그들이 공격을 받고, 때로는 군사적·정치적 억압을 받게 하시며, 하나님은 이스라엘이 다시 하나님께로 돌아오기를 바라셨습니다.

But moreover, as God is trying his best to win her soul back, today's text tells us that Israel has turned farther away, building the high places around the places and worshiping the idols and later end up being destroyed.
게다가 하나님께서 그녀의 영혼을 되찾기 위해 최선을 다하시는 동안에도, 오늘 본문은 이스라엘이 더 멀리 떠나 각처에 산당을 세우고 우상을 숭배하다가 결국 멸망에 이르렀음을 말합니다.

And now we know that Ezekiel, as he is sitting in the land of Babylon with his people, and this is a lesson for his people that they have turned away from God and being a spiritual idolatrous place and now they're destroyed.
그리고 이제 우리는 에스겔이 그의 백성과 함께 바빌로니아 땅에 앉아 있으며, 이것이 그의 백성에게 주는 교훈이라는 것을 압니다. 그들은 하나님을 떠나 영적으로 우상 숭배의 자리에 있었고, 결국 멸망하게 되었습니다.

 

 

Why is it like that?
왜 이렇게 된 것일까요?

I mean, isn't it so, when you read these stories, now I wouldn't have, you might think I'm not going to be able to do the same.
이 이야기를 읽으면, ‘나는 절대 이렇게 하지 않을 거야’라고 생각할 수 있습니다.

I'll try to turn back to God.
나는 하나님께 돌아가려고 노력할 것입니다.

 

But we know from the deepest part of us, There's a deep-rooted sin within us.
그러나 우리는 마음 깊은 곳에서, 우리 안에 뿌리 깊은 죄가 있다는 것을 알고 있습니다.

And this fleshly desire that's so embedded in our hearts that it's always tempting us.
이 육적인 욕망은 우리 마음속 깊이 뿌리박혀 있어, 항상 우리를 유혹합니다.

And Satan is using whatever he can to tempt us to fall into the sin.
그리고 사탄은 우리가 죄에 빠지도록 할 수 있는 모든 수단을 사용하여 우리를 유혹합니다.

And later on, this sin will consume us later on.
그리고 결국 이 죄가 우리를 삼키게 될 것입니다.

Well, God passionately loves his people.
그러나 하나님은 자신의 백성을 뜨겁게 사랑하십니다.

And he's trying to tell his people that we should turn back to him.
그리고 하나님은 우리가 그분께 돌아가야 한다고 말씀하고 계십니다.

And as long as we have this fleshly body

and struggle and fight against temptation is the constant battle that we have to fight until we see the Lord.
우리가 이 육신을 가진 한, 유혹과 싸우고 맞서야 하는 것은 주님을 뵐 때까지 계속해야 할 싸움입니다.

And I pray that as we read today's text, as we meditate on today's word, that we will hear God's call doing whatever that he can to tell these people, turn back to him and turn away from the fleshly desires.
오늘 본문을 읽고 묵상하면서, 하나님이 백성들에게 하시는 말씀—그분께 돌아오고 육적인 욕망에서 떠나라—라는 부르심을 우리가 듣게 되기를 기도합니다.

So let's take his heart and keep it to us that we may stay away from the fleshly desires.
그러므로 하나님의 마음을 받아 우리 마음에 간직하여, 육적인 욕망에서 멀어지도록 합시다.

And we know our fleshly desire will never satisfy us.
우리는 육적인 욕망이 결코 우리를 만족시킬 수 없다는 것을 알고 있습니다.

It's always unfulfilling.
그것은 항상 만족스럽지 못합니다.

And we know the only satisfaction that we find is in God.
그리고 우리가 찾을 수 있는 유일한 만족은 하나님 안에 있다는 것을 알고 있습니다.

 

 

Ask God to show you the ways in which you have squandered His blessings in pursuit of other things.

In today's verse 30, it says,
오늘 본문 30절은 이렇게 말합니다.

It says like this, Saying this, behaviors following after these earthly desires, they ended up have to pay out.
이 구절은 이렇게 말합니다. “이 땅의 욕망을 따라가는 이런 행위들은 결국 대가를 치르게 된다.”

They have to pay the price.
그들은 그 값을 치러야 한다.

Well, we know as we are continuing to have this behavior of fleshly desires, then our spiritual bankruptcy that we have to face.
우리는 육적인 욕망의 행동을 계속할 때, 결국 우리가 마주하게 될 영적 파산이 있다는 것을 압니다.

And you feel so emptied out.
그리고 마음이 완전히 비어버린 것처럼 느껴집니다.

It's like drinking salt water and you keep on drinking and you keep on drinking it and you still want more.
그것은 마치 소금물을 마시는 것과 같아서, 계속 마셔도 또 마시고 싶어집니다.

And you feel so empty.
그리고 여전히 공허함을 느낍니다.

 

 

Well, we know if you don't overcome our fleshly desires,

then soon and later on,

then sin will consume you and you will be in a spiritual bankruptcy.
우리는 육적인 욕망을 이기지 못하면, 결국 죄가 우리를 삼키고 영적 파산에 이르게 된다는 것을 알고 있습니다.

So let's come back to the Lord,

trusting in the Holy Spirit and

trusting in the blood of Jesus Christ to turn back to him.
그러므로 성령님과 예수 그리스도의 보혈을 의지하며, 주님께로 돌아갑시다.

Let's pray.
기도합시다.

 

 

Lord, Father God, Lord, we repent, Lord.
주님, 아버지 하나님, 주님, 우리가 회개합니다.
We repent of things that we have done following after our flesh and carnal desires, Lord.
주님, 우리가 육신과 육적인 욕망을 따라 행한 일들을 회개합니다.
Lord, I ask the power of the Holy Spirit will help us, Lord.
주님, 성령님의 능력이 우리를 도와주시기를 간구합니다.
And Lord, I plead the blood of Jesus Christ that with your blood, Lord, would you wash us clean and help us to repent and turn back, Lord.
그리고 주님, 예수 그리스도의 보혈을 의지하여 간구하오니, 주님의 피로 우리를 깨끗하게 씻어주시고 회개하며 주님께 돌아가도록 도와주소서.
Because we know at the end, when we follow the carnal desires, then we will come to a place of sin will consume us.
우리는 알기에, 결국 육적인 욕망을 따라가면 죄가 우리를 삼키는 자리에 이르게 된다는 것을 압니다.
We will feel so empty, Lord.
우리는 매우 공허함을 느끼게 될 것입니다, 주님.
Lord, we know that you alone will bring us the living life and quench our thirst for it.
주님, 오직 주님만이 우리에게 생명을 주시고 우리의 갈증을 해소하신다는 것을 압니다.
We go back to you, Lord Jesus.
주 예수님, 우리가 주님께 돌아갑니다.
We turn back to you, Lord.
주님께로 되돌아옵니다.
Oh, help us, Spirit.
오, 성령님, 우리를 도와주소서.
In Jesus' name we pray.

In how many ways have we been unfaithful to Christ, and to the light and privileges which God has entrusted to us! How refreshing, then, ... to lift our eyes above this scene of ruin, and behold One who is faithful, faithful in all things, faithful at all times. ~Arthur W. Pink
