You likely have heard that Christian faith is not a religion but a relationship.
여러분은 아마도 기독교 신앙은 종교가 아니라 관계라는 말을 들어보셨을 것입니다.

Well, the Christian faith is, of course, is about relationship, a relationship of loving relationship.
물론 기독교 신앙은 관계에 관한 것이며, 그것은 사랑의 관계입니다.

And we know from the Bible, there's many metaphors about loving relationship between God and us.
그리고 성경에는 하나님과 우리 사이의 사랑의 관계를 나타내는 많은 비유가 있음을 압니다.

For example, the Bible tells us that God is our father and we are his children.
예를 들어, 성경은 하나님이 우리의 아버지이시고 우리가 그의 자녀라고 말씀합니다.

That shows us the loving relationship between a parent, a father, and a son.
이것은 부모, 특히 아버지와 자녀 사이의 사랑의 관계를 보여줍니다.

And also, Lord Jesus tells us that you are our friend.
또한 주 예수님께서는 우리가 그의 친구라고 말씀하십니다.

There's a loving relationship, a friendship relationship between our Lord Jesus Christ.
우리 주 예수 그리스도와 우리 사이에는 사랑과 우정의 관계가 있습니다.

 

But in today's text, especially in chapter 16 of Ezekiel, God tells us the relationship that we have between us and God is a relationship of husband and wife.
그러나 오늘 본문, 특히 에스겔 16장에서 하나님은 우리와 하나님 사이의 관계를 부부의 관계로 말씀하십니다.

Let us go into his heart or how he loves us so much as a husband loves a wife.
남편이 아내를 사랑하듯 하나님께서 우리를 얼마나 사랑하시는지, 그분의 마음을 살펴봅시다.

Let's go dive into today's text.

오늘 본문으로 들어가 봅시다. 

 

A Call to Remember

 

 

Ezekiel chapter 16, verses 35 to 52.
에스겔 16장 35절부터 52절입니다.

35 “Therefore, you prostitute, hear the word of the Lord!” “그러므로, 창녀여, 여호와의 말씀을 들으라!” 36 “This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Because you poured out your lust and exposed your naked body in your promiscuity with your lovers, and because of all your detestable idols, and because you gave them your children’s blood,” “주 여호와께서 이같이 말씀하시되: 네가 열욕을 쏟아내고 연인들과 음탕하게 하며 네 벌거벗은 몸을 드러냈고, 가증한 우상들과 또한 자녀들의 피를 그들에게 바쳤기 때문에,” 37 “therefore I am going to gather all your lovers, with whom you found pleasure, those you loved as well as those you hated. I will gather them against you from all around and will strip you in front of them, and they will see you stark naked.” “그러므로 네 연인들—네가 기뻐했던 이들과 사랑했고 미워했던 이—모두를 사방에서 모아 네 앞에 세워 너를 벌거벗긴 채로 드러내리니, 그들이 너의 누드를 보리라.” 38 “I will sentence you to the punishment of women who commit adultery and who shed blood; I will bring on you the blood vengeance of my wrath and jealous anger.” “간음하고 피를 흘린 여인에게 내리는 벌을 네게 내리고, 나의 진노와 질투의 분노로 피의 보복을 네게 임하게 하리라.” 39 “Then I will deliver you into the hands of your lovers, and they will tear down your mounds and destroy your lofty shrines. They will strip you of your clothes and take your fine jewelry and leave you stark naked.” “그 후에 내가 너를 네 연인의 손에 넘겨 그들이 네 언덕들을 허물고 높은 산당들을 파괴할 것이며, 네 옷을 벗기고 귀한 장신구를 빼앗아 너를 완전히 벌거벗긴 채 버려두리라.” 40 “They will bring a mob against you, who will stone you and hack you to pieces with their swords.” “그들은 무리를 불러 너를 돌로 치고 칼로 조각내리라.” 41 “They will burn down your houses and inflict punishment on you in the sight of many women. I will put a stop to your prostitution, and you will no longer pay your lovers.” “그들은 네 집들을 불태우고 많은 여인들 앞에서 너를 처벌하리라. 내가 네 음행을 그치게 하여 너는 더 이상 연인들에게 값을 주지 않으리라.” 42 “Then my wrath against you will subside and my jealous anger will turn away from you; I will be calm and no longer angry.” “그때에 나의 네게 대한 분노가 가라앉고 내 질투의 분노도 네게서 떠나리니, 내가 잔잔해져 더는 분노하지 않으리라.” 43 “Because you did not remember the days of your youth but enraged me with all these things, I will surely bring down on your head what you have done, declares the Sovereign Lord. Did you not add lewdness to all your other detestable practices?” “네가 네 젊은 시절을 기억하지 않고 이 모든 일로 나를 분노하게 했으므로, 주 여호와께서 내가 네게 행한 것을 반드시 네 머리에 돌리리라 선언하시느니라. 네 모든 가증한 행위 위에 음란함을 더하지 않았느냐?” 44 “Everyone who quotes proverbs will quote this proverb about you: ‘Like mother, like daughter.’” “속담을 인용하는 모든 자가 너를 두고 이 속담을 말하리라. ‘그 어머니에 그 딸’이라.” 45 “You are a true daughter of your mother, who despised her husband and her children; and you are a true sister of your sisters, who despised their husbands and their children. Your mother was a Hittite and your father an Amorite.” “너는 남편과 자녀를 멸시한 네 어머니의 진정한 딸이며, 남편과 자녀를 멸시한 네 자매들의 진정한 누이구나. 네 어머니는 헷 사람이고 네 아버지는 아모리 사람이다.” 46 “Your older sister was Samaria, who lived to the north of you with her daughters; and your younger sister, who lived to the south of you with her daughters, was Sodom.” “네 큰 자매는 북쪽에서 딸들과 함께 사는 사마리아였고, 네 작은 자매는 남쪽에서 딸들과 함께 사는 소돔이었다.” 47 “You not only followed their ways and copied their detestable practices, but in all your ways you soon became more depraved than they.” “너는 그들의 길을 따르고 가증한 행위를 본받았을 뿐 아니라, 모든 면에서 곧 그들보다 더 타락하게 되었다.” 48 “As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, your sister Sodom and her daughters never did what you and your daughters have done.” “주 여호와의 말씀이니라, 내가 살아 있음을 두고 맹세하건대 네 자매 소돔과 그녀의 딸들은 너와 네 딸들이 한 일을 결코 행하지 않았다.” 49 “Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy.” “이제 네 자매 소돔의 죄는 이러하니, 그녀와 그녀의 딸들은 교만하고 배가 불렀으며 무관심하여 가난한 자와 궁핍한 자를 돕지 아니한 것이다.” 50 “They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen.” “그들은 교만하고 내 앞에서 가증한 일을 행하였다. 그러므로 내가 네가 본 대로 그들을 멸하였다.” 51 “Samaria did not commit half the sins you did. You have done more detestable things than they, and have made your sisters seem righteous by all these things you have done.” “사마리아는 네가 지은 죄의 절반도 짓지 않았다. 너는 그들보다 더 가증한 일을 행했고, 네가 한 모든 일로 네 자매들이 의롭게 보이게 했다.” 52 “Bear your disgrace, for you have furnished some justification for your sisters. Because your sins were more vile than theirs, they appear more righteous than you. So then, be ashamed and bear your disgrace, for you have made your sisters appear righteous.” “수치를 감당하라. 네가 네 자매들에게 변명의 빌미를 주었기 때문이다. 네 죄가 그들의 죄보다 더 사악하므로, 그들은 너보다 더 의롭게 보인다. 그러므로 부끄러움으로 수치를 감당하라. 네가 네 자매들을 의롭게 보이게 하였기 때문이다.”

 

 

As we read today's text from verse 35 to 52, it's quite heavy. It's quite burdensome, right?
오늘 35절부터 52절까지의 본문을 읽어보면, 내용이 상당히 무겁고 부담스럽습니다. 그렇죠?

Sometimes so many hours reading this, it's not easy for me to read it all day till the end with the light hearted.
이 말씀을 여러 시간 동안 읽다 보면, 하루 종일 끝까지 가벼운 마음으로 읽는 것이 쉽지 않습니다.

I wish I could finish the chapter 16, at the end of chapter 16 where He restored us.
16장을 끝까지 읽어, 하나님께서 우리를 회복시키시는 부분에서 마무리할 수 있으면 좋겠습니다.

 

But today's text is a quite heavy one.
그러나 오늘 본문은 매우 무겁습니다.

Lord sharply rebukes Jerusalem of how Jerusalem had turned away, how the adulterous relationship that she had.
주님은 예루살렘이 어떻게 하나님을 떠났는지, 그리고 어떤 간음한 관계를 맺었는지를 날카롭게 책망하십니다.

She was seeking different nations.
그녀는 여러 나라들을 찾고 있었습니다.

And later on, God's going to bring down His judgment and wrath upon Jerusalem by using different nations to pour down His judgment and Jerusalem will fall.
그리고 나중에 하나님께서는 여러 나라들을 사용하여 심판과 진노를 쏟으시고, 예루살렘은 무너질 것입니다.

And it has already fallen, they can see in their life as they're sitting in the Babylon.
그리고 그들은 이미 바벨론에 앉아 있는 자신들의 삶 속에서 그것이 무너진 것을 보고 있습니다.

And yet they have not turned back and they're continuing in sin.
그럼에도 그들은 하나님께 돌아서지 않고 계속 죄 가운데 머물고 있습니다.

And they're walking down the path of death and destruction.
그들은 죽음과 멸망의 길을 걷고 있습니다.

And it's quite heavy. And why is God so angry?
이것은 매우 무겁습니다. 그런데 하나님은 왜 이렇게 진노하실까요?

I thought God was loving God. But if you read this kind of stuff, you end up thinking, God is such a scary God.
나는 하나님이 사랑의 하나님이라고 생각했는데, 이런 내용을 읽다 보면 하나님이 참으로 두려운 분이라고 생각하게 됩니다.

Why is it? Because God passionately loves us.
왜일까요? 그것은 하나님께서 우리를 열렬히 사랑하시기 때문입니다.

Just as if a husband loves a wife.
마치 남편이 아내를 사랑하는 것과 같습니다.

When wife is having adulterous relationship, having an affair with different men, then you can only imagine the husband's heart is full of turmoil, anger, and sadness, and just frustration.
아내가 간음하여 다른 남자들과 관계를 맺는다면, 남편의 마음이 혼란과 분노, 슬픔, 그리고 좌절로 가득 차게 될 것을 상상할 수 있을 것입니다.

That's what is going through in the heart of God.
그것이 바로 하나님의 마음속에서 일어나는 일입니다.

See, God passionately loves us so much to the point that He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, on the cross and shedding his blood, dying a tremendous death, such a horrific death that he had to go through, shedding his blood and water, and he's getting pierced and his thorns on his head and everything.
하나님은 우리를 너무나 열렬히 사랑하셔서, 독생자 예수 그리스도를 십자가에 보내시고, 피를 흘리시며, 물과 피를 쏟으며, 창에 찔리고 머리에 가시관을 쓰시며, 감당하기 힘든 끔찍한 죽음을 당하게 하셨습니다.

And yet God is willing to go to that path to save the soul because God passionately loves us.
그럼에도 불구하고 하나님은 우리의 영혼을 구원하기 위해 그 길을 기꺼이 가셨습니다. 왜냐하면 하나님께서 우리를 열렬히 사랑하시기 때문입니다.

That's how much God loves us so much. God is waiting for us.
그만큼 하나님은 우리를 사랑하십니다. 하나님은 우리를 기다리고 계십니다.

And I pray as you read this text, rather than meditating on the judgment and wrath, that I pray that you will see his heart, how he's so passionately waiting for you to turn back.
그리고 이 본문을 읽을 때, 심판과 진노를 묵상하기보다, 하나님께서 여러분이 돌아오기를 얼마나 열렬히 기다리고 계신지를 보게 되기를 기도합니다.

And let the history of Jerusalem be a lesson for us that we may turn back today, that today is a day that we will go back to him and embrace his loving arm as how the loving husband loves his wife.
또한 예루살렘의 역사를 우리의 교훈으로 삼아, 오늘 우리가 하나님께로 돌아가, 사랑하는 남편이 아내를 사랑하듯 그분의 사랑의 팔에 안기기를 바랍니다.

 

 

In what ways of your life have you failed to remember God’s grace?

In 42, God says, I'm jealous for you.
42절에서 하나님은 말씀하십니다. “나는 너로 말미암아 질투한다.”

And also in verse 43, I'm waiting for the time of youth when you were used to be in youth.
또한 43절에서 하나님은 말씀하십니다. “네가 젊었을 때, 그 젊음의 때를 내가 기다리고 있다.”

But God is jealously waiting for us to go back to the first love.
그러나 하나님은 우리가 처음 사랑으로 돌아가기를 질투하며 기다리고 계십니다.

Do you remember the first time that you met the Lord and you were captivated

by his warmth, by his love when you first met the Lord?
여러분은 처음 주님을 만났을 때, 그분의 따뜻함과 사랑에 사로잡혔던 순간을 기억하십니까?

Well, God is still there for you.
하나님은 여전히 그 자리에 계십니다.

He's waiting for you and rooting for you that you'll come back to first love.
그분은 여러분이 처음 사랑으로 돌아오기를 기다리시며 응원하고 계십니다.

Let us go back to the first love when we first met the Lord,

rejuvenated by His love, by the help of Holy Spirit, and holding on to the name of Jesus Christ to have victory in your life today, to go back and find your first love.
우리 처음 주님을 만났을 때의 첫사랑으로 돌아갑시다. 그분의 사랑으로 새로워지고, 성령님의 도우심을 받아, 예수 그리스도의 이름을 붙들고 오늘의 삶에서 승리를 얻어, 그 첫사랑을 다시 찾읍시다.

 

 

Let's pray. Father God, Lord, let today be a day that we'll turn back and go back to the first love when we first met you, Lord Jesus.
기도합시다. 하나님 아버지, 주님, 오늘이 우리가 처음 주님을 만났을 때의 첫사랑으로 돌아가는 날이 되게 하소서.
Lord, we know that you're passionately loving us, Lord.
주님, 우리가 주님께서 우리를 열렬히 사랑하고 계심을 압니다.
That you love us so much, Lord, that you're waiting for us, Lord.
주님, 주님께서 우리를 너무 사랑하시기에 우리를 기다리고 계심을 압니다.
That your love is great, as well as your mercy is great, Lord.
주님의 사랑이 크고, 주님의 자비가 크심을 압니다.
We are seeking for your grace, Lord.
주님, 우리가 주님의 은혜를 구합니다.
Lord, help us to turn back to you as Holy Spirit lead us today.
주님, 오늘 성령님의 인도하심에 따라 우리가 주님께로 돌아가게 하소서.
And we trust in the blood of Jesus Christ that we can be, that today is the day that we go back to you, Lord.
그리고 우리는 예수 그리스도의 보혈을 믿습니다. 오늘이 우리가 주님께 돌아가는 날이 되게 하소서.
I pray all this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
이 모든 것을 예수님의 이름으로 기도드립니다. 아멘.
