Introduction: No One Is Forgotten in God’s Kingdom
Welcome to living life.
This Christmas season we celebrate God's gift of Christ to us by the giving and receiving of regular gifts.
No one wants to be left out.
The thought of being forgotten in the distribution of gifts is a deep human fear.
My mother used to tell me how in my Korean heritage a grandfather would favor their sons particularly the first born son giving them the inheritance and the best food while the daughters would receive very little
or the scraps after everything else had been distributed.
But the kingdom of God is not like that.
Today God gives all of his children the gifts of their inheritance according to his grace so that no one is left out.

Scripture Reading: Joshua 19:24–51
Joshua Chapter 19 verses 24 to fifty one
the fifth lot came out for the tribe of Ashire according to its plans.
Their territory included Hellcath Holly Beaton Ammad and Mishaw.
On the west the boundary touched Karmal and Shior Libnath it then turned east toward Beth Degon touched Zabulin in the valley of IFTA Eel and went north to Beth Emec and Neil passing Kabul on the left it went to Abdon Rihob Hammond and CA as far as greater Sidon.
The boundary then turned back toward Rama and went to the fortified city of Tyre turned toward Hosa and came out at the Mediterranean Sea.
In the region of OXB Oma APEC and Rehob there were 22 towns and their villages.
These towns and their villages were the inheritants of the tribe of Ashire according to its clans the 60 lot came out for Neftali.
According to its clans their boundary went from Hellf and the large tree in Zanonym passing Adami Nekheb and Jabnil to Locum and ending at the Jordan.
The boundary ran west through Aznof Tre and came out at Hukk.
It touched Zebulin on the south Asher on the west and the Jordan on the east.
The fortified towns were Zidim Zer Hammoth Racath Kinerith Adama Rama Hazor Cadesh EDR and Hazor Iron Migdal El Horam Beth Nath and Beth Shamesh.
There were 19 towns and their villages.
These towns and their villages were the inheritance of the tribe of Naftalai according to its plans.
The seventh lot came out for the tribe of Dan according to its clans the territory of their inheritance included Zora Eshtal Earsahimesh Chalabin Aigilan Itla Elon Timna Echron Elteca Gibbathon Bilath Jehud Bennet Barrack Gath Rimmond Mee Jarkin and Rackin with the area facing Jappa.
When the territory of the Danites was lost to them they went up and attacked Lesham took it put it to the sword and occupied it.
They settled in Lesham and named it Dan after their ancestor.
These towns and their villages were the inheritants of the tribe of Dan according to its plans.
When they had finished dividing the land into its allotted portions the Israelites gave Joshua son of Nun and inheritance among them as the lord had commanded they gave him the town he asked for Tim Nath Sarah in the hill country of Ifrm and he built up the town and settled there.
These are the territories that Elias are the Priest Joshua's son of None
and the heads of the tribal clans of Israel assigned by lot at Shilo in the presence of the lord at the entrance to the tent of meeting.
And so they finished dividing the land.
God Keeps His Promises to Every Tribe
First God gives us his full inheritance of grace and doesn't leave anyone out.
Ever. Since chapter thirteen of Joshua we've been reading a seemingly tedious list of who gets what a long inventory of allotments for land for Ruben Gad Massa Judah Eprum and the rest of the tribes of Israel.
But now in our verses we come to the final tribes Ohire Nftali and Dan.
And the point of this long detailed list is simple.
God did what he promised he would do.
All of his people all of his children down to the very last tribe were given an inheritance in the promised land.
And so this speaks to the fullness of God's promises to the fullness of his people.
Contentment Instead of Comparison
We tend to take this for granted in our Christian lives.
We look at others and we think the grass is greener on the other side believing that God doesn't give us a good lot in life that kind of thinking discounts God's grace and it kills our joy in the Lord.
But here we see God doesn't leave any of his children out of their inheritance.
None of these tribes worked for their inheritance.
They fought but God won the battle.
They didn't cultivate the land they didn't build the cities they simply moved in and inhabited what God had already provided.
And this is the nature of God's grace in the Christian life as the Apostle reminds us what do we have that we did not receive?
A Finished Inheritance of Grace
And so this comprehensive distribution to the tribes of Israel is a testimony to all of us of his abundant grace the inheritance that we have in Christ.
All that God has promised us will be fully and completely provided and given not one of his promises will fail or fall.
So this teaches us two very important truths.
Resting in God’s Sufficiency
We can be content and not anxious.
See God's grace is so deep so rich so abundant that he has more than enough to give.
Paul says that we have every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus that there is no blessing that God will withhold.
That's why Paul also says in Romans that he who did not spare his one and only son How will he then not give us all things?
Secondly we can be content and not envy others.
God's grace is sufficient for all of our needs.
Whatever he gives he gives out of the fulness of his own wisdom.
What God gives someone else doesn't have to be our concern.
Salvation Is Received, Not Earned
The second truth of our passage is that God gives us a finished inheritance of his grace that we need only receive by faith not by works.
This narrative shows us that God gave Israel a finished inheritance.
The conquest was strategically and militarily finished yes there were still pockets of Cannonites to mop up to push out and to overcome but the land in principle was theirs.
They had conquered it the allotment itself here is finished.
Look at the summary in verse fifty one so they finish dividing the land.
“It Is Finished” — Living From Christ’s Completed Work
God does not give us an incomplete inheritance
but one that is done finished and completed.
This is how God gives us his inheritance of grace in Jesus Christ.
He earned it for us on the cross.
We don't receive an incomplete forgiveness or or a blessing where we have to wonder whether it's enough.
We don't have to wonder on our death bed if Jesus's death his resurrection his righteousness His redemption is enough rather it is all sufficient it is more than enough it's perfect it's fulfilled.
That's why Jesus on the cross cried out it is finished and this is why this is why we need to rest and trust in what Jesus has done for us.
Living Out a Finished Salvation
friends brothers and sisters is to rest and to receive it by faith and to live out that faith in obedience.
And this is what the tribes do they trust that God has given it to them and then they go they occupy they live and they work in the land that is already theirs.

So in conclusion if God gives us all the inheritance to all of his people and it's finished and complete then that points us to the idea that salvation is by faith apart from works we simply need to receive it and if that's the case then how then should we live?
Closing Prayer
See this is how we know whether we are truly resting and receiving what Jesus has done for us.
If we think that we need to add anything to what Jesus has done
then what we're really saying is that our inheritance is not enough and that's why our salvation is by grace because he did it all and we need only receive it.
And so friends, brothers and sisters would you rest and receive all that Jesus has done?
You have all that you need to to follow Jesus and to have that wonderful joy of salvation and assurance of eternal life.
And so if you truly believe that it is finished then you will have true rest
as the people of God have throughout the ages into eternity that Jesus did indeed do it all paid it all and he gives it all to you if you would trust in him as we pray Heavenly Father Thank you for the fullness of the inheritance that you give to us in Christ Jesus Bless us give us rest help us to trust in you through thick and thin in Jesus name we pray.
