Guard the Heart

Welcome to living life

Mega bless those who are faithful to him.

If you have ever been betrayed by someone you understand the pain and heartache it can cause.

When I first accept food in the United States as an immigrant I was advised not to trust anyone.

The idea was that trusting people would inevitably lead to getting hurt.

No one wants to experience betrayal.

When I trust a friend and someone who has been royal to you suddenly turn against you.

It brings a deep grief and a sorrow.

It hurts when I first betrayal I'm referring to the pain and anger and disappointment of being deceived by the someone you trusted.

Today we are going to look at Jesus as being betrayed by the Judas one of the disciples.

Let's listen to today's passage and reflect on what Jesus endured because of Judah's betrayal.

John Chapter thirteen verses twenty one to thirty

21 After he had said this, Jesus was troubled in spirit and testified, "I tell you the truth, one of you is going to betray me."
22 His disciples stared at one another, at a loss to know which of them he meant.
23 One of them, the disciple whom Jesus loved, was reclining next to him.
24 Simon Peter motioned to this disciple and said, "Ask him which one he means."
25 Leaning back against Jesus, he asked him, "Lord, who is it?"

26 Jesus answered, "It is the one to whom I will give this piece of bread when I have dipped it in the dish." Then, dipping the piece of bread, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, son of Simon.
27 As soon as Judas took the bread, Satan entered into him. "What you are about to do, do quickly," Jesus told him,
28 but no one at the meal understood why Jesus said this to him.
29 Since Judas had charge of the money, some thought Jesus was telling him to buy what was needed for the Feast, or to give something to the poor.
30 As soon as Judas had taken the bread, he went out. And it was night.

In today's passage

we witness one of the most tragic betrayals in history Judas betraying Jesus Christ.

This passage invited us to examine our own heart and our relationship with him.

The thought of a Judas betrayal deeply grieved the Jesus.

He had hinted at this betrayal multiple times.

In fact Jesus predicted Judah's betrayer at least four times once in each gospel.

He also foretold Peter's denier in all four gospels and then predicted all his disciples would abandon him too as a recorded in Matthew Mark and John.

However at this moment she just stayed it in plaintly she is just fully aware of what was coming and he was a troubled in spirit as he announced it truly truly I said to you one of you will betray me.
His distress reveals the depth of his love even for Judas the one who would betrayed him.

The more you love someone the greater the pain when they betrayed you Jesus loved Judas and it was troubled you know for Judas's sake much more than for his own.

The disciples were confused unable to comprehend now how one among them you could have committed such an act.
This moment reminds us that betrayer open comes from the those closest to making it all the more painful.

However by revealing that one of them was a traitor Jesus demonstrated that he was in control.

Nothing took him by surprise.

In verse 22 the disciples were bewildered and they could not understand that one of them would have betrayed Jesus.

It was not obvious that Judas was the betrayer

outworthily there was nothing suspicious about him.

The disciples wondered if Jesus meant some kind of accidental or unintended betrayal

one that any of them might commit.

Simon Peter unable to ask her Jesus directly signed a signal to John the disciples whom he loved to inquire and Peter may have been motivated by a desires to take a preventive action.

And it is interesting that Peter the boldly bold of the disciples did not ask a Giges himself but instead relied on John.

Jesus revealed the betrayal by the giving him a piece of bread a significant gesture of honor at the table.

In Jewish custom even in this moment Jesus extended love and an opportunity for Judas to repent.

However, instead of turning to Jesus, Judah allowed Satan to enter his heart sealing his fate.

When Judas left the Bible stated and it was night.

This is more than just a reference of the time of day it is a profound spiritual statement.

Judah's stepped into both literal and figurative darkness choosing to walk away from the light of the world

while technically someone could leave during the passwor meal.

Doing so was generally considered disrespectful as the sedle pass over meal was meant to be communal experience

with everyone presented for the durations of a ritual.

In a story telling if someone has to leave because of there are some reasons they were expected to you know, leave without causing a problem.

This passage highlights an important truth.

We all have a choice. Will we surrender to Christ or will we harden our hearts?

Judas chose the deception, betrayal and greed which ultimately led to his destruction.

As we have learned Jesus predicted multiple times that his disciples would betray him

not only Judah everyone

Juda's betray serves as a heartbreaking reminder of what happens when we turn away from Christ.

However, good news is that Jesus offers the grace to all who repent.

All of Jesus's disciples failed him in some way

yet unlike a Judas, Peter repented and was restored.

Today Jesus calls us to examine our heart and repent where needed and a walking his marvelous life.

Let's pray

Lord we just come before you
and we are here to check our heart.
And as we check our heart, you know, we know that we have a choice to make whether we're going to choose your path or we you know, turn away from you and then betray you.
And the father give us the strength to choose your way.
Because the father, you know when we repent even if we fail there is a forgiveness and a father
we wants you know, to you know, walk away like a Peter chose so would you soften our heart so we are able to continuously be fateful before you thank you.
Injudiously we prayed Emma.
